Below are the most common abbreviations for transaction types that may be displayed on your bank account statement.

  • BAC - Automated Credit
  • BGC - Bank Giro Credit
  • BSP - Branch Single Payment
  • C/L - Cashline/Cash machine (A number next to C/L denotes the card issue number e.g. C/L2 would refer to a cash withdrawal made with the second card issued on an account.)
  • Charge - Previously displayed as CHG
  • CHP - Payment by CHAPS transfer
  • CHQ - Cheque
  • C/R - Credit Remittance
  • CUI - Centralised Unpaid In (Unpaid Cheque)
  • CWP - Cold Weather Payment
  • D/D - Direct Debit
  • DIV - Dividend
  • DPC - Direct Banking by PC
  • DR - Account Overdrawn or Debit Item
  • DWP - Department for Work and Pensions
  • ERTF - Exchange Rate Transaction Fee
