Why doesn't my card PIN work with my card-reader?

Please ensure you are using the correct PIN for the card you have inserted into the card-reader. This is the PIN you would use with your card at an ATM machine.

Be careful as your card-reader only gives you three chances to enter your card PIN correctly. After three tries your card is automatically locked to protect you. To help you avoid this, your card-reader shows you if you've reached your last PIN try. At this point, you need to press the 'OK' button before you can key in your PIN for the third time.

Should your card become locked after your last PIN try follow the steps below:

  • If you are using your debit card with the card-reader you can unlock the PIN - just visit any of our cash machines. Select 'PIN Services' then the 'PIN Unlock' option.
  • If you're using a Digital Banking card you will need to contact our Digital Banking helpdesk.
